Dear Rohwer Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are thrilled to welcome both new and returning families to Rohwer Elementary. Our staff has been hard at work preparing for an amazing year of learning, growth, and connection, and we can't wait to fill our hallways with the energy and excitement of our students once again. I am so excited for the school year ahead.

1st Day of School - August 12, 2026
First Day Arrival: Please arrive between 8:15–8:30 a.m.
Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will line up outside the building with their classroom teacher. Teachers will be holding signs to help families easily identify the correct class. Parents/guardians are welcome to walk their child to their assigned outdoor area.
1st–5th Grade: Students in grades 1–5 will enter the building independently and walk to their classrooms. Parents/guardians may walk their child to the front entrance, but we ask that families remain outdoors.
Please note: All parents, guardians, and family members will remain outdoors during morning arrival. Families are welcome to walk their child to the appropriate outdoor drop-off area, but students will enter the building independently. Staff members will be stationed inside and outside the building to welcome students, help them find their classrooms, and make sure everyone gets where they need to go.
First Day Dismissal: Please Note Wednesday Dismissal @ 2:30
Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will line up outside the building with their classroom teacher in the same area as arrival. If students attend SPARK, classroom teachers will escort them to the gym prior to dismissal.
1st–5th Grade: Please discuss your dismissal plan with your child prior to the 1st day of school. You may also discuss the dismissal plan with your child's teacher at Open House. Having a consistent dismissal plan is a great way to set up your student for success. Please let the office / teacher know if your dismissal plan changes.
Traffic Flow - Arrival & Dismissal
Please review our traffic expectations. With everyone's help and support, we can make our morning drop off and afternoon pick up run smoothly. There are multiple drop off locations for students that will help reduce traffic congestion and reduce the number of students congregating outside.
Zone 1 -
Front Entrance
Kindergarten students and siblings, daycare vans, Bay Wood, Option Enrollment students, Students from Mrs. Gaston & Mrs. Stednitz's classes
Drop off/Pick up before the crosswalk
Students MUST enter/exit the car on the passenger side.
Use crosswalk at ALL times.
Cars need to continue to move up to the crosswalk.
Right turn only to exit on F St during pick up/drop off times.
Do not get out of your vehicle in the drop off lane.
Staff is on duty from 8:15 - 8:30 am and 3:30 - 3:40 pm to help students out of vehicles.
Zone 2 -
Dickinson's Landing
Dickinson's Landing, Hawthorne, Lakeshore,
West Bay
Students should walk down stairs from Dayton St.
Students must enter/exit the car on the curb side.
Staff is on duty at the crosswalk from 8:15 - 8:30 am and 3:30 - 3:40 pm.
Cars are not allowed in the cul-de-sac.
Zone 3 -
178th Street
Wood Creek, Plantation, Golden Meadows, Oakmont, West Bay Springs, and West Bay Woods
Students should enter through the southwest entrance of the building.
Students must enter/exit the car on the curb side.
Staff is on duty until 8:30 am. Students that arrive after this time should use the front entrance of the building.
Any students that have not been picked up by 3:40 will be brought to the office.
Important Information
School Hours
School hours are 8:30 - 3:30 on M, T, Th, F and 8:30 - 2:30 on Wednesday.
Morning supervision begins at 8:15. The tardy bell rings at 8:30. Students arriving after the tardy bell rings will need to enter the school through the front doors and check in at the office.
Afternoon supervision is from 3:30 - 3:40 on M, T, Th, F and 2:30 - 2:40 on W . Please make sure your student(s) is picked up by 3:40 pm (2:40 pm - W).
Communication
While our primary mode of communication will be email, urgent and time sensitive information may come to you via text message on your cell phone. Please be sure you have updated your phone numbers in our Synergy system
Rohwer Flyer: Each week, you will receive an email with reminders about upcoming events, and a link to our school newsletter, The Rohwer Flyer. Please take time to read through this newsletter as it contains important information, school wide.
Rohwer Facebook: Check out our Social media where we share pictures, reminders, and announcements!
Friday Folders: Students will come home with a folder in their backpack every Friday. This will include announcements, flyers, notes, etc. Please empty the Friday Folder each week and return on Monday in their backpack.
Classroom Communication: Classroom teachers will also communicate with you in various ways such as electronic or paper newsletters, classroom Facebook pages, email or the SeeSaw app.

Adding funds to Breakfast & Lunch Accounts:
Families may use the MySchoolBucks website at any time. There is a fee to use this website.
Families may also send a check or cash with their student on the first day of school & throughout the school year. Please CLEARLY LABEL any money you send to school with your child's name!

The Rohwer Fun Run is coming soon - October 2nd!
We have decided to move our annual Fun Run from the Spring to the Fall! This helps to balance the calendar with all the events that take place throughout the school year. Stay tuned - information will be coming! In the meantime, we need to collect t-shirt sizes for all students!
