FAQ

Below you can find often asked questions but please feel free to email me other questions you might have at reweber@mpsomaha.org

Absent Work

Does my child have to make up work missed when absent?

If a child is absent, I will fill out a form that lists the required assignments to be completed and turned in. However, some activities and projects cannot be made up. Students should turn in the required work on a timely basis, such as two days after they were absent.

Snacks/Water

Can my child bring a snack and water to school?

Yes! I encourage your child to bring a water bottle with a straw to school every day. Snacks should be healthy brain foods.

Birthdays

Can my child bring treats to celebrate his/her birthday?

Yes! However, it is totally optional. All food needs to be store bought and individually wrapped, according to district policy. Thank you!

How many treats should I send?

We have 24 students in our classroom.

What if my child has a summer birthday?

You may choose to celebrate at your child's half birthday OR at the end of the school year.

Book Orders

When are Book Orders due?

Book orders go home about once every month or two and are due on the following Friday. These are optional and you may write just one check (to Scholastic) for all the orders you purchase from or order online with my online code that will be attached to the book orders.

When does my child take his/her weekly spelling test?

Spelling lists will go home on Wednesdays and tests are the following Wednesday.

Student Planners

What exactly is written in Student Planners?

The teacher writes down assignments to be completed at home (long-term and short-term) on a poster each day. Students copy the assignments down in their Student Planners at the end of the day.

When should these come home?

Student Planners should go home each day and students should get in the habit of checking it each night at home. This is a simple way to practice responsibility and avoid late work.

Should I check my child's Student Planner each night?

These are a great form of communication about what we do on a daily basis in school and will help your child learn about planning and responsibility. Please look over the Student Planner and your child's homework each night and then sign at the bottom. You may always call or email me if you need further suggestions on this topic
