The MPS NE Early Literacy Workshop Interest Form will be available from October 19-23.
The NE Early Literacy Workshop is Millard's deepened learning opportunity to meet the Nebraska State Literacy Law for our K-3 educators.
Eligibility: All Millard K-3 educators are eligible to participate. The workshop is open to K-3 classroom teachers, EL teachers, Special Education teachers, Literacy Interventionists, Teacher Librarians, Elementary Principals, Admin Interns, and District Level Leaders.
Location: All cohorts will meet within Millard Public Schools, leveraging MPS facilities to create an immersive learning environment. Here is the Spring 2027 schedule for upcoming workshop session dates, times and locations.
Instruction: All NE Early Literacy Workshops will be taught by our own talented Millard Teachers who have completed a rigorous training that implements the practices for science-aligned theory and practices in literacy. Participants will engage in collaborative learning, reflective practice, and evidence-based application - all designed to deepen understanding and enhance classroom instruction.
Curriculum: This workshop will be directly correlated with CKLA routines and materials.
Benefits: This is a unique opportunity for school teams to collaborate, reflect, and refine their literacy practices as a cohort. MPS Teachers who complete this workshop will receive either a $1300 stipend OR 3 hours of UNO graduate course credit. This is a Superintendent Approved +39 course.
***Please Note: If you are part of the Millard Graduate Program, this course will be able to count in place of TED 9110: Principles & Practices of Teaching Reading (Designed for Elementary). Please contact Dr. Jennifer Allen at jlallen@mpsomaha.org if you have further questions.
