As parents of school-aged children, one of the biggest concerns is your child(ren)'s physical and mental health. This time of the year is filled with extra family events and back-to-school schedule changes. The transition can be difficult!
One of the easiest, most important, but often overlooked, ways to support them in these changes is by implementing a routine for bedtime and encouraging them to have good sleep habits.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, school-aged children should try to get 9 to 11 hours of sleep every night, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine suggests 9 to 12 hours. Unfortunately, recent research has shown that 36% of children are not getting enough sleep.
So as we come back to school, if you find your child(ren) exhausted, having difficulty focusing, attending, following directions, or struggling to regulate their emotions, you might consider evaluating your family’s sleep schedules. A small change can make a big impact when it comes to sleep!

I came across this Tweet from the amazing Dayna Derichs (one of our fabulous Millard Teacher Librarians) and couldn't help but share it! These are amazing ideas of things our kids really need! I challenge you to pick one of these "Wish List" items and try it this week!
Also, if you need help purchasing school supplies for school, fill out the survey on your registration form (on ParentVUE) or call Montclair. We are happy to help you find the resources you need!
I'm going to "Assign Chores" and "Cook meals together this week" with my three children. Which one will you try?
Millard has a list of community and family resources. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask me!
