GARAGE BAND TIME!
1) PRACTICE reading one or two of the poems listed below. Where it says "pause", don't say "pause", just stop for about 5 seconds, then continue.
2) When you're ready to record, find your Garage Band app on your iPad, I'm not sure what your iPad will do from your end, but you'll need to Create a Song, and then find the microphone option (Audio Recorder). Click on "Voice". Now click on the blue outline triangle with some lines that make it look like an old-fashioned metronome, it should turn white after you touch it. This will take away a "ticking" sound as you speak.
Press the red button when you're ready to record. WAIT UNTIL IT COUNTS TO 4 BEFORE SPEAKING! Read your poem, then click on the white square to stop. There are 2 triangles by the red dot. (see picture below). You can rewind to the beginning of your recording, then play it back so you can hear if it's satisfactory for you.
3) Save this, because next week we will be adding music/sound effects to your recording! TO SAVE, click on the solid WHITE rectangle (looks like a piece of paper with a fold on the corner). It will go into a Garage Band file- if you wish to rename it, click on the "My Song 1", and type in your desired title.
4) FOR FUN, click on "Create Song" again, go to the Voice from Audio Recorder agian. Click on the "fun" bar next to "studio". You can record your voice to sound like a chipmunk, robot, alien, etc.
EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS! kmmarble@mpsomaha.org
GARAGE BAND: If you've read your poem and recorded yourself (WITH PAUSES), you are now ready to add sounds/music.
1) Click on Garage Band and find your recording (in case you can't find it, just click on the "Audio Recorder")- To find your recording, click on the WHITE rectangle that looks like a blank piece of paper-UPPER LEFT CORNER OF YOUR SCREEN).
2) Click on your project. In the upper LEFT hand you'll see what looks like a box with 2 smaller boxes on both sides of it.
SLIDE along until you see "SOUND LIBRARY".
3) Click on SOUND LIBRARY. Scroll down a LITTLE until you see "TOY BOX".
4) Click on TOY BOX, you will "GET" Toy Box. THIS WILL TAKE A WHILE TO LOAD, SO BE PATIENT!!!
5) Once you think it's loaded, click "DONE", then click "BACK" (upper left hand).
6) Get to your project again, to a screen where you see blue/green horizontal strip(s). If you can't find it, click on the white "paper" and click on your project. It should look SIMILAR to the one below (smaller picture). Now, click on the LOOP on the upper right - next to the "gear wheel".
Click on any of the loops to see what you like, and what you'd like to add to your song. Once you find something, click and drag it UNDER your recording. You'll find that if you tap on the blue/green bars, you can delete them, trim them, etc.
Email me at kmmarble@mpsomaha.org and I'll do what I can to help you!

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful. And since we've no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Oh it doesn't show signs of stopping, and I've brought some corn for popping. The lights are turned way down low, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
When we finally say goodnight, how I hate going out in the snow. But you'll only hold me tight, all the way home I'll be warm!
Oh the fire is slowly dying, and my dear we're still goodbye-ing, but as long as you love me so, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
3. Click on the link below to follow along with "Winter Wonderland". If you need help, as a family member to help you out!
Sleigh bells ring. Are you listnin'? In the lane, snow is glistnin'. A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight. Walking in a winter wonderland!
Gone away is the bluebird. Here to stay is the new bird. He sings a love song, as we stroll along. Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman, and pretend he is Parson Brown. He'll say "are you married?", we'll say "No man! But you can do the job when you're in town!"
Later on, we'll conspire as we dream by the fire. To face unafraid, the plans that we made. Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman. And pretend that he's a circus clown. We'll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman, until the other kiddies knock him down!
When it snows, ain't it thrillin'? Though your nose gets a chillin'? We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way, walking in a winter wonderland. Walking in a winter wonderland!
