What is the Programme of Inquiry?

The Programme of Inquiry (POI) is the roadmap for learning in our IB Primary Years Programme. It outlines the big ideas and meaningful questions students explore throughout the school year.

Instead of learning subjects as separate topics, students make connections across reading, writing, math, science, social studies, the arts, and more. Through hands-on learning and inquiry, they develop knowledge, skills, and confidence while making sense of the world around them.

๐ŸŒŸ How is it created?

Our teachers work together to design the Programme of Inquiry using the IB framework and the needs of our students. They regularly review and update each unit to keep learning engaging, relevant, and connected from one grade to the next.

๐ŸŒ€ Why are there both Whole School &ย

Grade-Level POIs?

๐ŸŒŽ Whole School POI

The Whole School Programme of Inquiry shows how learning fits together from the early years through the end of elementary school. It helps ensure students build on what they've learned each year while exploring a wide range of important ideas and topics.

๐Ÿ’ซ Grade-Level POIs

Each grade also has its own Programme of Inquiry that highlights what students will be exploring during that school year. Families can see the units of inquiry, the big ideas students will investigate, and how learning is connected across different subject areas.

Together, the Whole School POI and each Grade-Level POI provide a clear picture of your child's learning journey and help ensure a connected, engaging elementary school experience.
