Q: I am struggling to get my child to behave and/or focus to get work done at home. What suggestions do you have?
A: Here are some options to try:
Allow your child to take short breaks in between activities.
Create a quiet and consistent location for your child to complete school work.
Remove background noise and other distractions as much as possible.
Create a sticker chart or visual incentive to help motivate your child.
Sit close to your child if needed and redirect them back to their work.
Q: When can I contact my child’s teacher?
A: Between the hours of 8:00-4:00, Monday - Friday, by Seesaw or email.
Q: What are some resources for extra practice?
A: The Black Elk webpage has a lot of great websites for your child to practice skills at home! These can be found on the 'Students' tab at the top of the website. Many of the websites we use for educational purposes have been or will be introduced to your child during library time or in the classroom. You can find those suggestions HERE.
Q: How can my child access their account?
A: Your child has their own QR code that they will use to log in with the Clever app or website. Contact your student's teacher if you need this.
Q: How can I get access to my child's portfolio?
A: A QR code will be sent home at Open House. This is unique to your student's account. Feel free to share this with any family members you would like to connect with your child. If needed later on you can ask your child's teacher for a Seesaw invite to view and comment on your child's portfolio OR another QR code. This account is different from the one that your child will use to log in.
