Students spent October learning about the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead, which takes place November 1 & 2. They then made sculptures based off the Mexican folklore that was begun by Pedro Lunares. These are called Alebrijes. While they are typically made out of wood and other materials, our students got creative to constuct their own!
Winners for Honorable Mention, "Best in Show" and "Most Creative"
In-Class work includes both paper-based options as well as computer-based options. Each class, students explore the weekly topic through options they choose including: coloring, word puzzles, reading (Garbanzo platform), videos (EdPuzzle), interactive flashcards (BOOM cards), and computer games (Gimkit, Blooket).
We work to earn a weekly total of 6 points by completing assignments and earn a whole-class game for the last ten minutes of class if we are productive and focused!
