Connections

"The world is a book ... and those who do not travel read only one page."

This is one of my favorite quotes, which captures the importance of experiencing the world and making global connections. In today's interconnected world, it is ever so important to have experiences abroad. In order for my students to become more "globally literate," the most important experience that I can provide to my students is to travel abroad as ambassadors of our school and community.

Student travel abroad opens doors to further growth and understanding. Immersion experiences abroad enhance a student's understanding and appreciation of another culture as well as their own. As a language teacher, I feel it is most rewarding to experience another culture through its language. It is through language, and the interactions that one has with native speakers in their own culture, that one is able to understand the world from a different perspective. Through cultural experiences, I hope to instill curiosity and a passion for learning that will follow my students into adulthood.

The world truly is a book. However, like an unfinished book where pages are left unturned, there are experiences that are yet to be lived. I look forward to continued collaboration with our partner schools abroad to maintain these rewarding experiences for our students.
