The four pillars of the National Honor Society are very important in shaping what we do as a team. Yes, you help others while you're a part of this committee, however, it's also about incorporating great leadership abilities, showcasing your strengths, and utilizing your academic abilities in your good deeds.
Learn about each pillar below!
Character is who we are. In the National Honor Society we value each other's differences and create relationships with the members and people we help by exhibiting empathy, hard work, commitment, respect, integrity, and honesty. Your character impacts everyone around you, so valuing ethical and considerate decision-making that positively effects others is crucial.
Calling yourself a leader is one thing, but embodying leadership is another. Leadership is about collaboratively working with others, leading through example/being a role model, and working toward a positive change. Being a student leader you should embrace the opportunity to positively effect your learning environment and community through your intelligence and perseverance while constantly growing.
Scholarship is an agreement to lifelong learning. Its not just a report card, or diploma at graduation. Its about embracing the constant opportunity to learn something new in all life situations inside and outside of academic means. You should constantly be looking for ways to positively influence your environment through your own knowledge, skills, and personal experience.
Service is putting others before yourself to help meet their needs. Acts of service is driven by passion for helping others, personal understanding, and sympathy. Its about being completely selfless and having the confidence to make positive changes in another's life when they need it. Your acts of service can be an inspiration throughout your community, other schools, and even across the nation. You are able to make a change.
