4 credits of the same World Language in high school

All 4 credits (4 years) must be from ONE of the World Languages that LHS offers 

• 4 years of French, German OR Spanish

• You cannot count credits from different languages towards the four year World Language requirement

4 credits of global coursework in courses approved by WI Department of Public Instruction

The 4 credits of global coursework must come from the following list of approved courses at LHS:

• One year of an additional world language (not the same language that you use to meet the 4 year WL requirement) - 1 credit

• World History - 1 credit

• AP Human Geography - 1 credit

• Introduction to Sociology - 0.5 credit

• Economics - 0.5 credit

• Mythology - 0.5 credit

• Great Plays - 0.5 credit

• Music Performance: band, orchestra, or choir - 1 credit

• Art History - 0.5 credit

• AP Environmental Science (1 credit)

Global Scholar Program Course Connections (Course Overlay)

In some cases, a student may choose to do a "course overlay" in order to make global connections within a course that has not yet been approved by the Department of Public Instruction. Students must complete the Global Scholar Program Course Connections form  with their instructor and submit it to Mrs. Swemke within the first few weeks of the course. There must be evidence of significant and sustained global connections in order for the course overlay to be approved.  A few weeks prior to the end of the course, the instructor must verify the student's successful completion of the plan and connections that had been proposed.
