We invited councils from Mesa High, Desert Ridge, Skyline, and Dobson to come to Red Mountain and participate in our first ever "Idea Share". We started off the day by playing team building games. Next, we got in a huge circle and shared ideas about how we can better our schools through student council. Then, we broke of into groups and went to classes taught by each different school such as flower decoration making, meditation, digital flyers, MC coaching, DJ, officer class, and work with vendors.
We got to volunteer at the Phoenix marathon at the aid station for mile 9! We split into two teams...Team Drew and Team Johnie and had a contest to see whose team brought the most spirit! We had a great time handing out water, Gatorade, and vaseline as we cheered on the runners in the freezing cold.
We definitely had the best signs!
We had such a great time packing meals for children in Cambodia!
All together we packed 202 boxes and took a huge group of RM students with us!

Dec. 22, 2017
We dressed up in our Santa gear and brought Christmas goody bags to all the administration and counselors!
White elephant gift exchange!
We adopted two families from the RMHS drive and collected cash for them. We did go shopping and gave them items they needed, but from our basketball game collections, we raised $150 for a small family and $250 for another family.
It's been a Stud Co tradition since 2012. We meet at Bashas at 6:30 pm, drive the store-workers crazy, buy at least 10 turkeys with our Basha's PO and donate them to St. Vincent de Paul--who is right outside with a booth in the parking lot.
Easy. Fast. Impactful.
Leaders in our community. No doubt.
Turkey Tues 2016 with alumni from 2015
Since 2016, as a council, we plan a lunch with our special ed department, to surprise the BEST students at Red Mountain. Mountain Movers is their club name. We make new friends and get to know more about these wonderful kids! We dress up, help them pick their food and play games. They LOVE it and so do we!
In AZ, all AASC member schools, collectively donate to a state-wide chosen charity. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the current charity for AZ.
This year, we sold Barros pizza at the lunchtime assembly for Mountain View. 100% of the proceeds went to the AZ Make-A-Wish Foundation.
On Sept 1, we collected cash at our football game against Hamilton High School. We came together as councils, both us and Hamilton, and donated all of our cash to the Houston Food Bank. We donated just short of $1000!!
We had a blast at the AASC spirit conferences to kick off the year. We listened to motivational speakers, played games, had a massive dance party and made great memories! This year, we attended the Central Phoenix conference at Carl Hayden and the East Valley conference at Highland High School. The theme was "Toon Into Leadership." We felt there was no other option than to dress as WALDO!! Can you find us?
Our first "full council" activity was a lock in. We started by playing get-to-know-you games. Because of this, we became closer to everyone. Mr Whetten lead us in discussions about how to become better leaders . The day was full of activities helping us to identify the group strengths and we discovered some about ourselves, too. We based the whole day off encouragement and we learned how it feels to be in others' shoes and understand all perspectives. We made vision boards and had meals together as we enjoyed each others company.
At the end of the night, Mrs. Pomonis showed everyone how to break through their personal boundaries by breaking a board with their own hands. With music and screaming for each other, we screamed YES! YES! YES! It was a perfect memory. We finished with Mr. Jones taking us to a special place where we talked about ourselves and our goals for the year. We definitely became bonded with each other.
