We hosted a 17 minute moment of silence for the 17 victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida. While we were silent, we wrote letters to the students to send them our love in this awful time of healing. To end, we hugged each other and let one another know they are loved.

We invited our student body to the amphitheater to amp up for the Battle on Brown Road. We had a pinata and pin the tail on the toro.

To kick off our homecoming weekend, student council prepares and presents an assembly for the entire student body. The work we put into it creates a fantastic atmosphere for our freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes. The assembly is equipped with a professional DJ, class competitions, and performances from our very own dance and band organizations. The homecoming week starter gets all the students hyped up and ready to go full out for hoco!

To start off the year, we chose to begin with a new tradition! Red Mountain opened in 1988. With this date in mind, we themed the "Welcome Back" assembly, the "80's Assembly!!"
We dressed up and the student body followed. The costumes were amazing. But we didn't stop there. We also created the new and improved HYPE SECTIONS! The hype sections are the last three rows of each grade sections. We stand in front of those rows with signs and only allow the MOST spirited students in the section. When it's time to cheer, we lead the hype sections in spirit and support. Before the hype sections, our school was spirited but not enough. The hype sections took it to the next level. Our gym became a mass of screaming, supportive students. It was truly amazing to see our school so spirited. We think we're gonna keep that idea. :)
