We've always loved going to state. This past year we took 6 seniors and 6 underclassmen. As a tradition we created, we always dress up as hot dogs for the first day.
The spirit conference was an amazing time to spend with other student councils. It was so fun and definitely a day to remember. The music was playing and the people were dancing, but Red Mountain always brings the party. After we got a run down of the day, we listened to motivational speaker Shane Feldman and made friendships with other councils. It's always a great day!
"Trust the process"
Summer Camp is always highly recommended in our Student Council. This year we took 4 Sophomores, 4 Juniors, and 5 Seniors. This picture is one of Red Mountains traditions at camp, every year we make sure to get up early and take a council picture. Although this picture is almost always taken closer to the end of camp so we are all very exhausted, we always make the commitment to keep the tradition. We all grow so close with our fellow camp attenders, create bonds that never break, and the people we met during these short five days soon become some of our life time best friends. We all love camp so much; it is a great way to express the real you and get away from the real world. Some say "camp is a reset from reality". Camp is one of those things where you don't know how great it is until you try it. Our favorite saying in council is "life is easier at Pine Summit".
US Airways, AASC, our officers and motivational speakers! It was a great day!
We hosted an idea share for the local East Valley high schools. Each school brought a 20 minute class to share and we had approx 10 classes. We rotated 3 times and then ate lunch together.
Jakobe Stevens and Mackenzi Stein went to Regionals in Tucson this summer. Jakobe even beat boxed on stage!
The lock-in was an amazing opportunity to bond and connect with our red mountain student council, both classes of council spent the school day together, had lunch with the Mountain Movers; our special education community, and ended the day with a few activities and a lecture about teamwork and pulling your own weight. After School, our second class left and just our officers were left. Our night ended with a few games and an amazing time with our student council family. We woke up the next morning and went to Tonto Rim Christian Camp to spend the afternoon with Gilbert Christian High School. We started our time together by playing leadership games and listened to a lecture about school shootings, followed with a group discussion. We had lunch together and came home. Once again it was an amazing experience to be able to get closer as a family.
