In honor of the original Top Gun and our school’s opening in 1988, the spirit day for our homecoming assembly was 80’s day. This is a yearly tradition at Red Mountain. Hundreds of students united in retro 80’s wear, excited to show off their old-school looks with their friends. The gym was full of crimped hair, plaids, and shimmer blue eyeshadow; our staff was more than excited to participate too! Principal Tannenbaum was especially excited to give the student body a blast from the past and show off the fan-favorite mullet.
One of a yearly traditions is decorating our hallway walls in our main building to reveal our homecoming theme and promote the upcoming week. This years theme was "Top Gun" and our council worked relentlessly to not disappoint. The students and staff truly loved the finished product. Throughout homecoming week, students marvel at their favorite decorations and visibly glow with excitement for the spirit week and homecoming dance to follow.
This year’s Homecoming Parade was the most exciting of our homecoming celebrations! Hosted at Salk elementary, many clubs and elementary schools joined us for a lap around the school to throw candy and show how much we love Red Mountain.
Every year in the spirit of the Halloween season, Red Mountain hosts a community trunk or treat. We fill the parking lot with cars decorated for the spooky season, each representing a different club at Red Mountain and each competing for the best decorated. On top of all our tasty treats, there were also tons of fun games for all to enjoy.
The best assembly organized by our Student Council is by far our Homecoming Assemblies. During our free periods and after school, we came in to rehearse our lines and prepare our agenda, allowing us to properly prepare for the event and perform each run through of the assembly smoothly. We had football, cheer and pom, dance, theater, a student guitar soloist, all of our fall sports and our senior homecoming royalty nominees take part in our assembly this year to increase crowd involvement and school spirit. By the time all of these groups were actively participating in the assembly, the stands were electric and the student body was beyond excited for our homecoming dance.
