- Assessment/Evaluation: S will cut a white kitten and moon out and create a image like a scene from the second story with black construction paper and a white pencil/crayon/chalk.

Topic: Fiction and Nonfiction; how to choose a book for myself
Essential Question: fake=fiction and facts=nonfiction; how do I choose a book for myself
Objective: Students will be able to identify the best ways to choose a book for their personal independent reading.
Method/Procedures: whole class/independent
Activity:
Discuss how some books can be too easy,
some can be too hard (words we don't know),
and a few are just right for us to read.
T will introduce the five finger rule.
T will read aloud Going on a Book Hunt by Pat Miller.
We will talk about the best way to choose a book for our personal reading.
S will watch a short video on the 5 finger rule.
T will show students GETEPIC books;
Assessment/Evaluation: Students will share how to use the five finger rule.
