Essential question: Can you design a mouse trap that combines the best features of the country and city mouse to catch our elusive furry friends?
Objective: Students will be able to compare and contrast between two subject matters (different types of mouse traps), construct their own mouse trap, and analyze successful and unsuccessful features of a mouse trap design based on the story "The Country Mouse and the City Mouse."
Directions: Students will work in groups to design and construct a mouse trap, encouraging collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Students will also have the freedom to choose the design elements of their mouse traps, such as the materials, mechanisms, and overall structure. Once completed, each group will test and evaluate the effectiveness of their trap, fostering ownership and creativity in their project.
Guidelines: Each group will design and construct their own mouse trap using provided materials (popsicle sticks, cardboard, string, rubber bands, cups, etc.).
