Instructional Strategies by Length of Time

The following strategies are organized based on the length of time it takes to complete them. The strategies are pulled from the Educators Toolbox by ACT.org.

Short Strategies

Strategies which take up 15 minutes or less

Medium Strategies

Strategies that can to up to a whole class period

Extended Strategies

Strategies that require more than one period to complete or that require substantial scaffolding

Ongoing Strategies

Strategies that are used continuously or are considered to be open-ended
