Community Project
What is the Community Project?
The goal of the community project is to help students understand why helping others and getting involved in their community is important. The project encourages students to discover meaningful ways to make a positive impact in their community.
The IB Programme understands that every student is unique, so it allows students to work on their community project in a way that works best for them and their community's needs.
Each community project is meant to be entirely unique to the group members designing it. With that in mind, students can pick one type of project from the following 4 choices:
Direct Service: You are helping people directly.
Indirect Service: You are helping people behind the scenes.
Research: You are researching a topic that would help people.
Advocacy: You are speaking up for a cause.
Each student will work In a group of 3 studets to complete their community project. Groups are formed within homerooms and will be supervised by the homeroom teacher. The community project is a key part of Year 3 in the Middle Years Programme (MYP). It’s an ongoing project where students explore a topic, plan a project, then take action to help their community, and reflect on what they have learned throughout the process.
