What is The FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form that students planning to attend college in the current or following school year complete in order to receive federal student aid or money for college. US citizens, permanent residents, or certain visa holders can apply.

How Do I Apply To The FAFSA?

Class of 2026, make sure to file your 2026-2027 FAFSA to receive federal financial aid. To file a FAFSA, students and parents are required to report their 2024 income and tax information. When applying for federal or state financial aid with the FAFSA, you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or an eligible non-citizen.

- - Identification Numbers and Basic Information:
    - Social Security Number (if they have one)
    - Birthdate (month/day/year)
    - Marriage or divorce date (if applicable)
    - Amount in savings
  - If they worked in 2024:
    - 2024 Federal Income Tax Return (Example)
