Advanced Placement

This course is designed for interested students who are serious and passionate about refining their skills within Drawing, 2D Art, and 3D Ceramics. The expectation of candidates are to invest time and effort in producing the required work to receive college credit post-secondary education. Taking this course is an opportunity to place out of introductory level art courses coming into college. Students will build a portfolio through a Breadth of understanding and a Concentration of development through personal investigation. The course emphasizes making art as an ongoing process which guides the student through contextual awareness and critical decision-making in their artworks.

AP Studio Art through the College Board will assess students through a refined art portfolio determining a level of mastery for credit that will be submitted at the end of the school year, rather than taking a written exam as in other AP courses.
