Dance 1
Welcome to Dance 1:
Dance 1/Hip-Hop & Dances of the African Diaspora-1st period (8:30-9:25 am)
Hello! You can read through the syllabus that is attached to learn more about our objectives for the year. All students will need to check their school emails to receive the invitation to our Google Classroom site for the year. If you do not receive an email with the code to join, please email me at Erin.Brown@mpls.k12.mn.us. The main materials needed for this class are a water bottle, folder, athletic shoes w/non-marking soles, SmartPhone w/music & video capability (helpful but not necessary), and an open-minded attitude. I look forward to meeting each of you on the first day of classes!
How to Succeed in Hip-Hop class 2023-2024:
Attend all classes in-person as student is able: show engagement throughout the dance classes and participate in the group collaborative work.
Actively collaborate with peers on projects.
Complete all projects on time and show during our class time. (before school is available for make-up work)
Grades (1-8) will be based on physical class engagement in concepts and contributions, Create & Perform Projects plus self-reflections & short quizzes at the end of each quarter. Each quarter will have 2-3 projects to complete with a short quiz or reflection at the end of the quarter to check for understanding of concepts and vocabulary.
Parents or students can check the portal every 2-3 weeks to see how students are doing. You can also feel free to email me at Erin.Brown@mpls.k12.mn.us to check-in about how your student is doing.
