Evaluation Process

Evaluation is a process of discovering what is happening and figuring out how to make it better. Participatory evaluation empowers the people who are closest to the issue to take the lead in the evaluation. The evaluation process helps evaluators move from a question or idea to action.

Before you can embark on the evaluation process, you need to build your YPE team

Once you have a team, click on each phase of the evaluation process below to access more information and resources.

Your team should plan to collect most, if not all, of your data before Feburary! This will allow you to analyze the data you collect, communicate your findings in the early spring, and take action before the end of the school year.

Supportive Adults

At each school, the Youth Voice Advisor is an adult who supports the YPE team. Part of their role is to collaborate with the Equity & Engagement team to advocate for and incorporate youth voice throughout the school.

Depending on the version of YPE the school implements, the team also receives support from an Evaluation Coach - a staff member from the District's Research, Evaluation, and Assessment Department. YPE Coaches’ primary role is to ensure that YPE youth and their advisors develop evaluation skills and access resources so that the data collected can be used to lead change in the District.
