Crack The Code Assignment (Due 9/18)

• Read slides 1-12, take notes if you wish

1. Go to this site, choose 'rotated alphabet'
   • This is a type of code where: The Rotated Alphabet encoding, all of the letters are rotated a certain amount. For example, if "A" corresponds to "J", then "B" corresponds to "K", "C" to "L", "D" to "M", and so on.
2. Click start. You will see a 'quote' but it is all jumbled up. There are a number of strategies you could use to solve this, the most basic being just clicking through each possibility, one-at-a-time. I strongly encourage you to think of something better!
   • A few suggestions would be to look for the smallest words. Two and three letter words are most likely one of a few possibilities, like the, and, it, an, or, so if you can figure those out, the rest is easy!
   • Look at the end of the quote, the name is given. Maybe Google a list of scientist names and see if the number of letters in the first/last name match up, narrowing down your options.
   • Use your brain and come up with your own, depending on the given quote!
   • Email the quotes to Mr. Miller
