How do you qualify to take PSEO Classes?
Have a Qualifying GPA and MCA Score (if students were not able to take 8th grade Reading MCA due to COVID then it is solely based on GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Students will potentially need to take the Accuplacer Test as well. Currently this is NOT required by colleges for 10th Grade PSEO students
Students in their first semester are only allowed to take one class.
A. If a sophomore receives a grade of C or better in the course they took first semester, the student will be allowed to take 2 additional courses the next semester that are not limited to CTE courses.
Must be in the upper one-third of High School class.
If class rank is not noted on transcript, we will need a letter from a counselor that verifies the students meets this requirement.
Have a test score at or above the 70th percentile on any nationally standardized, norm-referenced test such as the ITED, CAT (Timed Version), Aspire, PLAN, ACT, PSAT or SAT.
The student needs to provide a copy of an official test score record.
Screen-shots or pictures of these scores will not be accepted
Juniors may also qualify with a High School GPA of 3.0 or higher.
What are the steps to becoming a PSEO Student?
Connect with Mr. Kane to let him know you are interested in taking PSEO class(es) next year.
Complete the PSEO application of that college
Complete the PSEO Notice of Student Registration Form Part 1 and then send over to Mr. Kane. He will complete Part 2 and send in a copy of your transcript to the college as well.
Attend the PSEO Orientation of that college and then contact Mr. Kane who can help you figure out your classes that could could take as a PSEO student.
MCTC is where nearly all of our PSEO students grades 10-12 attend PSEO classes. It is located three blocks away from FAIR and provides the most flexibility for students to be able to take PSEO classes, take FAIR classes, and participate in FAIR activities and maintain a connection to the FAIR community.
