In order to graduate from Minneapolis Public Schools, students will need to earn the following credits in each department to earn a total of 21.5 credits.
One Quarter of a class =.25 credits. 1 year of a course = 1 credit.
The typical FAIR student earns 6 credits in one year and 24 credits by the time they graduate.
ENGLISH
You will need to take 4 years of English and earn 4 credits of English credit. It will include the following classes: English 9, English 10, American Literature, College Prep Writing, and African American Literature.
SOCIAL STUDIES
You will need to take 4 years of Social Studies and take the following Social Studies courses: Human Geography/Race and Identity, World History, US History, US Government, and Economics.
MATH
You will need to take 3 years of Math and take the following Math courses: Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Algebra. It is suggested to take a 4th year of math, but not required.
SCIENCE
You will need to take 3 years of Science and take the following Science courses: Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry or Physics. It is suggested to take a 4th year of science, but not required.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
You need to take at least one semester of Dance, or Physical Education online.
HEALTH
You need to take one semester of Health.
FINE ARTS ELECTIVES
At FAIR, we'd like you to take at least 4 credits of Fine Arts classes which is equivalent to 8 semester classes over the course of your high school career.
ELECTIVES
At FAIR, we'd like you to take a minimum of 3 credits of electives which is equivalent to 6 semester classes over the course of your high school career.
