Support by Level
Level 1: One or two periods of English per day, can be English Language Development (ELD 1) or English as a Second Language (ESL) 1A/1B. ELD and ESL classes will facilitate growth in English language proficiency (aligned to WIDA standards) and promote literacy development (aligned to ELA standards).
Level 2: One period of ELD 2 or one period of ESL 2A, a sheltered class taught by a dual-licensed teacher, or a co-taught class with an EL teacher.
Level 3:
Student in the country three years or less: One period of ELD 3 or one period of ESL 3A, a sheltered class taught by a dual-licensed teacher, or a co-taught class with an EL teacher.
Student in the country four years or more: One period of a co-taught class with an EL teacher.
Level 4: One period of a co-taught class with an EL teacher.
Level 5: One period of a co-taught class with an EL teacher
