Course Objective: Algebra 8 is composed of 7 units. In Unit 1, students will learn about solving equations and inequalities. In Units 2, 3, and 4, students will learn about linear functions by representing linear functions in a variety of forms, making scatter plots and using a line of best fit to make predictions, and solving systems of linear equations. In Unit 5, students will explore rational and irrational numbers and use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve problems. In Unit 6, students will explore exponential relationships using tables, graphs, and equations and simplify expressions including exponents. In Unit 7, students will be introduced to quadratic relationships in preparation for further study of quadratics in Intermediate Algebra.
