Distance Learning

Distance Learning Overview:

  • PK-8, all students will have defined schedules so our families and students can have a more predictable day.

  • Teachers' daily schedules will be displayed on the school website for all staff, students, and families.

  • Grades PK-3 will use SeeSaw.

  • Grades 4-8 will use Google Classroom.

  • Lessons will be posted on SeeSaw or Google Classroom.

  • Attendance will be taken and recorded each day for elementary students and each period for middle school students.

  • Attendance is based on a teacher's direct interaction with a student. This interaction could be participation in a:

    • video class or chat,

    • phone call with the student, or for younger students, with the parent,

    • posting completed coursework to the learning platform; turning in completed coursework on a given day along with a record of teacher contact, e.g., phone call or text message exchange.

  • Students for whom no teacher has direct interaction on a given day are reported as absent for that day.

  • Elementary students will receive regular report cards.

  • Students in grades 6-8 will earn grades A, B, C, D, or No Credit (NC). NC will not have a negative impact on a student's GPA.

Distance Learning Terms

  • Synchronous learning is defined as when a teacher is online and available to students either through direct instruction or support of an assignment, activity, or small group during a designated time. Synchronous does not mean screens must be on; however teachers are available online during that designated class time to support students.

  • Asynchronous learning, or anytime learning, is defined as lessons that have been pre-recorded by the teacher or website/online videos that can be viewed at any time.
