All Olson U students will work with a group of 2-3 students to complete a science fair project.
The science fair project could be:
An experiment to answer a scientific question
Example - How does listening to Ayo & Teo impact plant growth?
Example - What ingredients make the most flexible slime?
A science demonstration with a full explanation of the science behind the demo
Example - Build a volcano and be able to completely explain the science behind how it work.
An engineering project that solves a problem or makes the world a better place.
Example - Make a model of a solar-powered oven
More information to come this winter!
Come and see what Olson students have been working on in their science classes! Student’s science fair projects will be on display and the first, second, and third place winners will be announced! Light refreshments will be served and winners will receive gift card prizes!
I will be providing basic science materials like cups, utensils, paper, tape, scissors, glue, etc. If you student wants to complete a project requiring specialized materials I will try to my best to provide these, but if possible I would appreciate families supplying what they can.
I have some poster boards that I can provide to students who are unable to purchase their own. I would appreciate if families who can afford to provide their own board.
The night of the fair we would love to see you all at Olson supporting your scholars! If you would like to volunteer to help set up, take down, serve food, or greet families, please email me at effie.albitz@mpls.k12.mn.us. I hope to see you all there!
