Printz Award - "The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. "
Virginia Reads - "Our mission is to provide educators and parents with an annual list of quality, inclusive children's literature to be used in classrooms, homes and libraries to provide students with the opportunity to experience windows, mirrors, and sliding glass doors in children's literature."
Virginia Reader's Choice (scroll down to high school) - "The Virginia Readers' Choice (VRC) program is an annual initiative to encourage reading among Virginia's children and youth by having them vote for their favorite books. Organized by the Virginia State Literacy Association (VSRA) and its partners, the program features lists of contemporary, high-quality children's and young adult literature across different age levels."
Walter Award - "Also known as 'The Walters', the awards are named for prolific children’s and young adult author Walter Dean Myers (1937-2014). Myers was the third National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, appointed in 2012 by the Library of Congress. He was a champion of diversity in children’s books."
Coretta Scott King Book Awards - "Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King by recognizing outstanding books by African American authors and illustrators. The award encourages the artistic expression of the African American experience via literature and the graphic arts, including biographical, historical, and social history treatments."
YALSA Teens' Top Ten - From the American Library Association, this "Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year!"
