Quizzes (10 points each) are multiple-choice and due on Tuesday evenings (or Sunday evenings before tests). Quizzes are time-sensitive; their purpose is to inform students about their understanding of class material and to prepare them for the lab activity each week. Quizzes are open-book/notes/everything and not timed. A point deduction of 10% per day will occur for each day a quiz is submitted late unless the student contacts the instructor before the due date.
Lab assignments (20 points each) are due on Wednesday evenings after lab. They are designed to be completed in person during the lab time, and most students are able to do so. A point deduction of 10% per day will occur for each day a lab assignment is submitted late unless the student contacts the instructor before the due date.
Tests (150-160 points each) are a combination of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. They are administered in person during the regularly scheduled lab period. A single page of notes is required for each test, and they can be used during the test. If you are eligible for extra time on tests, please let me know via messages in the Canvas Inbox.
The project (150 points total) will be completed during the last third of the class. There will be multiple due dates leading up to the presentation of the final product. The multiple due dates are time-sensitive; their purpose is to keep students on track and ensure that work occurs on the project in stages and that feedback is incorporated along the way. Since the multiple due dates all lead to improvement of the final project, it is especially important that these assignments be submitted on time. If you're facing challenges, please communicate! More details will be forthcoming. A point deduction of 10% per day will occur for each day a project assignment is submitted late unless the student contacts the instructor before the due date.
All assignments for this course will be submitted electronically through Canvas. This is a paperless class. Again, please communicate if you are facing obstacles so that we can work out an appropriate solution.
In the Canvas course management system, points you receive for graded activities will be posted to the Grade Book. In Canvas, click "Grades" on the Course Navigation menu at the left of any Canvas page to see your grades.
Grades are typically posted within a week of the due date, although sometimes it may take longer.
