This message is being sent to local public health officers; Tribal health directors; the Division of Quality Assurance Assisted Living Forum and Notifications and Updates lists; and key DPH staff.
Presence of elevated levels of lead in certain cinnamon products
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an FDA alert concerning certain cinnamon products that contain elevated levels of lead. Through product testing, the FDA has determined that the ground cinnamon products listed in the FDA alert contain elevated levels of lead and that prolonged exposure to these products may be unsafe.
FDA recommends that consumers:
Do not eat, sell, or serve these products.
Throw away any remaining product.
Talk with a health care provider if they are concerned about exposure to lead.
We encourage local and Tribal health departments to raise awareness of the public about these recalled products and the consumer actions above.do not reply directly to this email message. If you have a question, please email the lead poisoning prevention team at DHSLeadPoisoningPrevention@dhs.wisconsin.gov.
The CDC now includes COVID-19 within the guidance for all respiratory viruses. The Mineral Point Unified School District will no longer require a 5 day exclusion for those who self-report a positive COVID-19 test.
