Dear Mount Horeb High School Students and Families,
It is with great pride that I introduce the Mount Horeb High School Course Selection Handbook for the 2026-2027 school year. At MHHS, our mission is to prepare ALL students to be contributing members of society and lead fulfilling lives. This handbook is the roadmap we use to turn that mission into a reality.
As we look toward the coming year, we are deepening our commitment to Teacher Clarity. You will see this reflected in our classrooms as we focus on Essential Learning Outcomes (ELOs)—the core knowledge and skills every student must master to be ready for life beyond our walls. This focus is the foundation of our transition toward Evidence-Based Grading, ensuring that grades are a transparent and accurate reflection of what a student knows and can do.
Whether your student is entering their first year of high school or preparing for graduation, our goal is to provide a "world-class" experience right here in Mount Horeb.
Rigorous and Accessible: Challenging every student while providing the support needed to succeed.
Future-Focused: Connecting academic experiences to work habits and post-secondary readiness.
Inclusive: Representing a wide range of human experiences and fostering a culture where every student feels they belong.
We continue to see incredible growth through our International Baccalaureate (IB) Career Programme and our diverse elective offerings. However, a course handbook is more than just a list of classes; it is a tool for building a thoughtful four-year plan. I encourage families to sit down with their student to discuss how these courses may align with their passions.
By setting high academic expectations and fostering social-emotional resilience, there is no limit to what our Vikings can achieve.
I encourage you to explore these pages thoroughly. Our dedicated school counselors and faculty are ready to partner with you to navigate these choices. The decisions made during this selection process are the building blocks of your future, and we are honored to support you in that journey.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Mount Horeb High School a place where academic excellence meets real-world preparation.
With Viking Pride,
Cody Lundquist
