We are working on identifying rock layer types in class.
In the lab we used graham crackers, icing, rice krispies, and chocolate chips to form the tectonic plates. The rice krispies as ocean crust, the graham crackers as the tectonic plates, the icing as the lithosphere, and the icing as magma.
We also made the rock cycle out of starburst and now I feel bad for rocks and what they go through like I mean they have to go through weathering, heating, traveling far and wide, melting and tumbling, and etc.
In this project we had to work on a certain area, for us it was horseshoe bend, and look at its geology, rock layers, and history.
Reflection on rock layer project.
I feel that my group and I have collaborated our best on this project. We all assign each other different roles to play in this project such as one person doing the script and 2 people working on the clay. In this presentation, I was super nervous, but I still managed to perform somewhat well. Although some of us forgot our lines. I have definitely learned a lot from this project as well such as what fossils our in our area like trilobites, fish, and shells. I feel that a valuable lesson that I have learned during this project is how the native people made their houses, and how closely related they are to modern day cabins. I feel that I have learned so much from this project, and I am excited for the next.
In this exhibition the learning targets were: I can develop a model of the earth-sun-moon system to explain phases, eclipses, and seasons. I can use a model to describe how gravity influences the motion of objects in galaxies and the solar system. I can analyze data to determine the size and scale properties of objects in the solar system.
In this exhibition I had a new understanding of space, especially the lunar eclipse. I got to learn even more on how it works, and even learned that it has a different phase that I have not heard of before which is the penumbra phase. This also helped with my collaboration and teamwork because I am used to working alone, and although we did argue a bit, we got it figured out. I feel that our presentation skills were a bit off, because of a lot of other things happening, such as holding the flashlight to read our cards, and even had the earth and moon fall down after the first presentation, so I feel like that could have used some work. The most valuable things we learned are mostly to listen to each other's ideas, and we ended up learning a lot more than we thought we would. I am most proud of the craftsmanship because it took a lot of hard work on this project to make the sun, and the setup was even harder, although it was more fun then hard. We could try to talk louder, and try not to stutter more in the future. All in all this project was a meets.
In this project we had to work on different environmental issues, me and my partner had to show awareness of plastic pollution, she went with another person to do a cleanup. We also made a slideshow of what we should be aware of such as littering, and what to do to help such as picking up trash. I think we did pretty well on raising awareness on this issue. Each of us had a very important role in this project, such as I did some of the research, and got the slides set up for us, and she helped in picking up trash and helped in some of the research as well. Personally I have learned a lot about teamwork with this project, such as agreeing to disagree.
