Hi! I'm Miss Nancy, thanks for visiting! Allow me to share a bit about myself.
I'm originally from La Junta, Colorado, but moved around- A LOT as a kid. My family eventually landed in Vermont, where I spent the majority of my teenage years, but I always knew I'd return to Colorado one day. What can I say, I love the mountains and sunshine too much! Like most of the teachers here at Mountain Middle, I enjoy being outdoors and exploring the wilderness whenever possible. My favorite things to do include snowboarding, mountain biking, reading, gardening, yoga, and hiking.
As far as my academic career goes, I attended the College of Southern Maryland, earning an Associate’s Degree in Humanities, before transferring to Fort Lewis College in 2008, where I received a bachelor's degree in Gender/Women’s Studies with a minor in U.S. History. In 2019, I completed my Master’s Degree in Education and hold secondary licensures in Social Studies and English Language Arts. In 2022, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Instructor Certification and have enjoyed getting to bring my love of yoga to school!
Lastly, I want to share why I love teaching 7th-grade so much. Over the years, I have learned how pivotal this moment of development is for students, and I want to be part of the support structure that helps kids not just survive, but thrive in middle school. And outside of human connection, it boils down to the fact that I LOVE world history, literature, and helping students make connections between the past, present, and future. I love 7th grade and enjoy working with this age group!
Below you'll find details about some of my passion projects, 7th-grade materials, and our team photo.
