exhibition 1 :Earth rocks
we are working on a project about geology including rock layers of our region . my goal for science is to turn in my homwork on time. I remember to do my homwork but i for get to turn it in.
We are currently working on plate tectonics and the layers of the earth. Some examples that i have from working on this is the plate tectonics is the lab that we did with graham crackers frosting and chocolate chips and rice crispy treats and that would simulate the different types of tectonics under the ground
like divergent boundary , convergent boundary, transformation plate boundary and many more. The other lab that we did was for the layers of the earth. What we did for that was we melted starburst and put them through the whole rock cycle. The whole class understanded the cycles so much more. For example at the beginning of the school i knew almost nothing about that topic

For my exhibition we did the great plains in this project we did a really good job. Rock layers are really fun to learn because the rock layer at the bottom of the grand canyon will for sure be the oldest and the rock layer at the top will be the youngest. You can also think of it like thin if is is snowing outside and there is a layer of snow on your lawn then the next time it snows the snow layer that just formed would be the oldest and the new layer would be the oldest.Now when there is like a divergent piece of rock through the other layers that one would be the youngest.For my group team work went really well and the people i worked with were really nice and helpful. We only had one little thing but we worked over it really well. For our presentation I think we did a good job. I had a tongue twister in one of my parts of the script and that was a bit of a challenge for me to say that but overall we did an exceptional job. I learned a lot in both subjects but especially geology. I loved rocks when I was younger so learning about them now was so much fun for me. My overall reflection is really good. My group was amazing. The work we did was amazing. What I learned was amazing. I have nothing to complain about.

For our past exhibition was about space and planets.The planet me and my group have was uranus.I feel like i knew a lot of the stuff that we taught to the parents but overall i think my favorite thing that i learned was the axes tilt.How my understanding of planets changed was i thought all planets had the same type of surface but then i learned about gas planets and others.Overall our group was ok.In the beginning i thought everything was great but then in the middle we all started teaming and getting mad that's why our model was bad.But at the end we all apologized and we started on a clean slate. I think that if we did that at the beginning of the project then we could have made a lot more progress and pushed through. One thing i wish i could change was having a go big or go home mindset.I tend to think more realistic so sometimes it is hard for me to think otherwise but i really will try harder.Another thing i wish i could have changed was our model.Like i said we had some hard times in our group so for half of the project i did not know what was going on and i feel like if we all had gotten along a little bit better than we could have all put all of our work together and make a really good model.Our presentation was pretty good.As i have said we didn't have a smoke machine or something so it wasn't like extraordinary but it was cool.I got a really talkative group (including me) so talking to parents was not very hard for me and our group. But sometimes when i would be showing the parents the game and talking then they would be talking to each other.I feel like i learned a lot from this project not about the planets and stuff but like working in groups.For me i learned that if you never communicate your problem then nobody will know how to fix it.As a whole species we tend to expect people to know what you need but that never is true. If I never told my group how I felt then we would not have the grade that I have. Another valuable lesson that that exhibition taught me was to be self aware. Sometimes you can be hurting someone's feelings without even knowing it. But that's ok as long as you take some time to think about what you did and apologize.Overall i really do think i learned a lot in this project personally and as a learner.

The last exhibition that we did was our science environmental action plan and what me and Ellie chose to do for it was. Mrs burton gave us options on what we could do ellie and i choose to do the pollinators at first i did not know what that was to be honest but then we did our research and successfully did the project while raising over 1000$.How my understanding of environmental issues evolve throughout this project was i always knew about global warming or pollution but there are so many other issues that are going on that are not as spoken about as they should be.When my partner told me she wanted to do protect the pollinators i honestly did not know what that was same with the other people we talked to this about but when i realized how important it is i still dont let my parents use pesticides. Teamwork in general is hard for me but when i worked with my friend i knew it was going to be even harder.However when we actually got together and planed the work out i realized its going to be pretty easy.Overall we had no fights we each had our own job so the work was very even and we accomplished our goal all while staying friends.The plan that we made on the first day was to get people to donate by emailing them and having a bake sale then we would donate it to one tree planted and present but our plan changed a bit when we talked to trails2000 so we changed to plan to get people to donate and when we have the money half of it goes to one tree plant and the rest we would go out with trails 2000 and plant flowers here in durango.My partner and i divided the jobs up pretty easy she would email people while i set up the website then when we were planning for our bake sale i brought the table and stuff like than along with muffins while she brought the cupcakes and other treats.Now when we are going out to plant we did it evenly.Overall we did not face any big issues but one small thing was the first bake sale that we had we wanted to do it down town so we talked to the owners of the strater hotel and wend there but we noticed down the block had more people so we asked the owners and they said yes and we moved another thing that we notice was that people did not carry cash so we downloaded venmo and got way more money. One thing I would have done differently was I wish we downloaded venmo early so that we got more money but I still think we did a great job. In general I am very happy about my grade and had so much fun and put so much effort into it .
