Welcome! to my 8th grade pol today I will guide you through my first semester of eighth grade and what i have learned and accomplished in this time.
This is my POL presentation Habits of heart and mind
Math learning target
I can analyze real-world problems to identify relationships between variables and represent them using linear equations in y=mx+b format.

I can solve multi-step equations for a variable and verify my solution by checking my work.

Math goal:
My math goal for this time period according to my test results and my math understanding is to improve my geometry skills which based on the beginning of the year sit somewhere in 7th grade. to me it means improving on my overall math skills in my academics. I will measure this goal by working hard in class and checking in with myself to make sure I am asking questions if I am confused about a lesson. I will know when my goal is accomplished when I see myself improving my understanding in that aspect of math. The logical steps that I will take is setting smaller goals that will help me reach my main one and respecting teachers and students as well as making sure to focus so I can learn what I am working on. It is relevant because it will help my overall academics in math. It is important because it can help me with careers in my future.

Humanities learning target
I can demonstrate my knowledge of Early American history, government and civics by constructing a TED Talk-style presentation that analyzes the history of the American Justice System, and makes connections to related present day issues.
I can apply my knowledge of Westward Expansion, geography and government by constructing a well-organized mock trial for or against Kit Carson using logical reasoning, relevant and credible evidence, and acknowledgement of opposing claims.
Humanities goal:
According to my learning and my test scores is Comprehension: literature which sits at mid 8th understanding. this means that I want to be successful with my understanding of writing and meaning. I will measure my progress by making sure to refine work that is not done right and often check how I am doing in humanities as a way of seeing. I will know I have accomplished my goals when I see that I am learning and improving in this area of my knowledge. One thing that I need to do in order to meet this goal and take steps toward it is make sure to listen with eyes and ears so I can better understand my academics. This goal will help me improve my reading understanding. it is important to me for my future. my goal is to accomplish this in a couple of months. I will work on it in humanities.

In this exhibition we picked a topic to reasearch and study that we would then create a slideshow and a presentation to deleiver as an exhibition.
Science learning targets
I can demonstrate my knowledge of the structure and properties of matter by performing an informative and captivating chemical reaction for a public audience
I can design and execute a controlled rocket launch, applying principles of forces and motion, and analyze the data to make informed predictions about the trajectory and performance of the rocket
science smart goal:
My goal for science is to improve my understanding of the topics and skills that we cover so that in the future I can use my knowledge that I practice. I will measure this goal by checking in with my self to see how I am doing once in a while. I will know I have accomplished this when my understanding improves. I will set smaller goals for me to reach in order to reach my main goal. It is relevant because it will help me grow into a better student. I hope to accomplish this goal within 1 or 2 months. I will work on this goal when I am in science and when I am doing science work. overall I reallly hope to work on this goal.

Chemical Theater Exhibition
Chemical Theater Exhibition
In this exhibition we were assigned a chemical reaction and we created a script for it for a couple of weeks we worked on perfecting what we were going to do at exhibition. Memorizing the script, working on the reaction and making sure we had everything.

my Durango home project
I really enjoyed making this art pierce and I put a lot of effort into it. It was a really cool project. To make it I used pencils and water color as well as a black pen for finishing touches. I would say my favorite part was mixing the color to create a really cool blended form the elements of art that I used were line, color, and texture. The personal connection to this piece is that I ride my bike Aalto at a place called twin buttes and this was a drawing of them. Overall I think it came out really good and I really enjoyed it.

My inspiration for this project was nature and unnatural objects I wanted to combine the two. I think the most challenging part was the transformation part of the project I found it hard to figure out how to combine the two. The main idea in this project was creating the theme of nature combined with artificial. The materials that I used in this project were sketch pencils, paper and regular pencils. It took me a pretty long time to complete. When people see my art I want them to think about how cool it is to make metamorphosis drawing and be inspired to do it themselves. Overall it was a really fun project.

I really enjoyed this project and I found it really enjoyable to add all of the lines and textures that are in the drawing. I think my favorite part of this art pierce is the textures used to create the space planet ridges I feel like they really complete the look. One thing I wish was a little better was the lines I wished they were a little less messy. Overall it was a really fun project and I really enjoyed it.
