In Mounds View Public Schools, we believe all English learners (EL) are respected and valued for their diverse experiences that enhance the learning community. Learning conditions will be in place to promote student growth in social and academic language through speaking, listening, reading, and writing. We are committed to providing personalized support and resources necessary to ensure each family feels connected to the Mounds View Public School District.
The EL teacher has partnered with homeroom teachers in each grade to provide co-teaching or small group support within the classroom. At Turtle Lake this type of model is happening most often during the Reading block. This model allows all students to reach their educational goals and be successful while remaining in their homeroom classroom. Teachers get to collaborate in lesson design and capitalize on the experiences of two professionals with different areas of expertise.
Students who require more language support may receive individualized or small group instruction according to their needs.
