3. Enrolled full-time in a post-secondary educational institution
4. Must have two letters of recommendation
5. College application form complete and signed
6. Portfolio
7. Willing to complete a minimum of 50 hours for a STRIPES Service
1-2 pages, 500 words. Your essay must address three areas:
1. Must be able to articulate the importance and purpose of education and how you will use it in your life.
2. Be able to articulate the hidden curriculum in schools (norms, expectations, and values) and demonstrate proficiency in navigating this culture.
3. Be able to explain their learning style and how they learn how to learn.
4. Demonstrate a passion for learning as it applies to your life (through story of past experiences)
5. Must demonstrate self-advocacy skills and articulate how you will use this skill to get your needs met.
6. Describe a time when you had to overcome adversity and solve a problem you couldn’t solve by yourself.
7. How have you grow as a person while you were apart of the STRIPES program?
Portfolio: Each STRIPES graduate must answer the seven exit interview questions in a written essay as part of the exit interview process. This essay will be logged as proof that you have completed the STRIPES program.
