What time is school?
School hours are from 9:20 am-4:00 pm. Students may enter the building starting at 9:05 am. They may eat breakfast as they enter the building if desired.
What if I need to change my child's transportation home?
If a change in transportation is needed (such as picking your child up instead of riding the bus) send a note in your child's folder or send me an email before school begins. Folders are checked daily. If a change occurs during the school day, please call the office. I am not able to check voice mail or email during instructional time. If you wish to pick your child up before the end of the school day, contact the school office. Any change in transportation must be communicated by the parents or guardians, not the student.
What if my child is absent?
If your child is absent for any reason, call the school attendance line at 651-621-7701.
Why does my child always bring a folder home?
Students will bring home schoolwork and communication in their designated Family Folder. It will be sent home daily, even if it is empty. Your child should return to school with their Family Folder daily. Any notes or forms that needs to be sent to school should be put in their Family Folder. Folders will be checked every morning. Please do the same every school night.
How will I know what is happening at school?
Classroom updates will be sent to families each week. It includes important information about our school and classroom. The specialist schedule will be included as well. Our classroom website is designed to provide additional information to families about our classroom. I update it throughout the year.
What do they eat for lunch?
Students will eat lunch at school daily in our cafeteria. They may bring a cold lunch from home or get a hot lunch with milk from the school. Lunch menus are available online each month. The students choose the main or alternate meal each morning when the lunch count is taken.
Where does my child keep their belongings at school?
Each student is assigned a desk and hook. Personal items need to go home at the end of the school day. Desks are used for storing school materials only. We will focus on keeping our desks organized so that we can find needed items quickly.
What if my child loses something?
Turtle Lake has a Lost and Found. To prevent lost items, label outerwear. Please leave toys or extra personal items at home. Clothing, jewelry, and accessories should not distract a student from their learning. Students will be asked to put any items that distract them away in their backpack.
