Highview Ensembles

Highview Middle School is proud to offer students a well-rounded educational experience that includes a strong focus on music education and the development of lifelong musicianship. Our Orchestra program supports students at every stage of their musical journey through engaging instruction, meaningful performances, and opportunities to grow both individually and as part of an ensemble.

School Ensemble Opportunities:

• Beginning Orchestra - offered on B days

• 6th Grade Orchestra – offered on A/B day rotating schedule

• 7th Grade Orchestra – offered as either an A/B day rotating OR daily schedule

• 8th Grade Orchestra – daily

Students in all grade-level orchestras perform throughout the school year both at Highview and in the wider community. Our 7th and 8th grade ensembles also participate in regional music competitions.

2026 Performance Highlights:

• The 8th Grade Orchestra earned “Superior with Distinction” ratings from both judges at the MNSOTA Middle Level Regional Festival and was invited to perform at Orchestra Hall.

• The 7th Grade Orchestra received an “Excellent” rating awarded at the 2026 Music in the Parks Festival at Valleyfair.

Chamber Orchestra:
Highview also offers an after-school auditioned ensemble called Chamber Orchestra. This advanced group is open to 6th–8th grade students by audition, with limited spots based on skill level and musical maturity. In 2026, Chamber Orchestra took a field trip to perform at the Minnesota Veteran's Home and at the Midtown Global Market. In 2025, the Chamber Orchestra performed on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol Building.
