SEMESTER 1:
Unit 1: Bienvenidos
I can identify countries where Spanish is spoken.
I can name facts about one of those countries.
I can answer basic questions about myself.
I can say the day, date and weather.
I can count up to 30.
I can use cognates to help me understand Spanish.
Unit 2: ¿Qué te gusta?
I can talk about foods and activities I like and don’t like to do.
I can identify subject pronouns.
I can make sentences using the verb SER.
I can talk about how people are feeling using the verb ESTAR.
Unit 3: ¿Cómo eres? & La familia
I can describe myself and others using adjectives.
I can demonstrate noun/adjective agreement.
I can use definite and indefinite articles.
I can describe my family and use common family terms.
Unit 4: Novel - Capibara con botas
Unit 5: En la escuela
I can use numbers up to 100
I can talk about my daily school schedule
I can describe classes and classroom objects
I can name places in the school
I can use the present tense of AR, ER and IR verbs
SEMESTER 2:
Unit 6: Novel - Llama en Lima
Unit 7: ¿De qué tienes miedo?
I can identify vocabulary to talk about fears.
I can identify and use the forms of tener in the box of six.
I can say what I am afraid of and what someone else is afraid of.
I can read a Spanish legend and describe it .
I can identify the present tense and conjugate -AR, -ER and -IR verbs in the box of six.
Unit 8: Novel - Mata la piñata
Unit 9: Ser & Estar
I can use the present tense forms of ser and estar
I can identify when to use ser and when to use ester in common situations
I can describe myself and others
I can talk about my emotions and where I am.
Unit 10: ¿Tienes hambre?
I can identify vocabulary to talk about food.
I can say what my favorite food is and what someone else's favorite food is.
Students will have regular performance assessments to show me what they know. These will be a combination of quizzes, exams, and projects. They will be announced well in advance both in class and on Google Classroom.
There will be a final exam at the end of Spanish 1. The FINAL EXAM is cumulative - it will cover all of the content we learn over the year.
