Meet The Club

The members of We All are so different and vast in creativity. With members attending bi-weekly, they maintain and hold a judgement free, strictly arts based club dedicated to the idea that all art should be shared with zero restrictions.

Don't fret! If you are interested in joining, you can simply show up. No registration, no paperwork, no stress. All are welcome.

If you asked my parents to read about my favorite toys in my "Baby's First Year" album, you might be surprised to see "books" at the very top. I began spontaneously reading at the age of four and my relationship with reading has only grown stronger. Back then, I might not have been able to tell you why reading was so important to me. But I can tell you now about the power of stories to transport you from the humdrum of every day life into worlds unknown.

I experienced a revelation in third grade when I learned that I, too, could be an author like the ones I so admired. I was especially inspired by the world J.K. Rowling had created in the [then] newly published Harry Potter series. Pencil in hand, I was proud to create such classics as "The Adventures of Super Courage" (about the imaginary exploits of my pet hamster) and "Jacqueline and the Froot Loop Stalk" (an adaptation of a favorite fairy tale).

While my stories may not have won any awards, I loved the feeling of being able to create characters and worlds to share with my readers. This is the feeling I want my own students to be able to experience, and why I was excited to become the Adviser for We All. Each student has their own story and it is a privilege to help them share it through art, writing, song, and other mediums.

Grace Bentley is a sophomore theater major who was very kindly gifted We All to keep alive and well. So far, she has moved the club towards a very productive schedule, creating a magazine, and making the most of the time that our club gets to meet on Thursdays. -G.M.

Most people carry the weight of work, school or stress on their shoulders. I have carried the weight of tying words into phrases, to paragraphs, to stories, to whole worlds any person could simply dive into and get lost in. Writing has always been a comforting thing to me.

Hi there. I am the main student official for We All, and it is my absolute pride and joy. I have always had a love for writing and art, but it wasn't until I discovered the club during my freshmen year that made me passionate for having an outlet. Josiah, the original leader of the club, created a space where students and staff could come together and speak of art, life and the bridge between the two with no judgement or fear from the outside world.

I am so glad to be taking on We All for the rest of the 2018-2019 school year and I hope to see it have success for many years to come.

Gabrial Matthews is attending his second year at MOT Charter. He has a passion for photoshop and music. He has been a swing for Grace when she has been unable to run the club and has done an absolutely amazing job at maintaining the artistic environment we know and love.

Art is able to take emotions that people are most insecure about and show them in ways that make them less vulnerable while still saying everything that needs to be said. The art I make lets me show everyone the more calm and even somber side of myself that I (and many others) try to hide away.

I have been a member of We All from the second week it started. I can absolutely see the club going very far, expanding as much as it likes and needs to. Even when the members from this year move on, I can see whoever comes in to fill it next will let it grow to great measures.

You can see our members at our workshops that we host during half days doing what they do best - being creative. Story, characters and world building are very popular workshops that we have alongside general meetings, usually for working on publications and ideas for the future.
