The film toys with a journey through the changing aesthetics of the three distinct agents of the human psyche, defined by Sigmund Freud. The film begins with the ‘Thantanos’ , (death instinct) labelled the ID. The glossy red colouring, tinging each shot of the ID sequence alludes to blood, lust, the heart and sexual desire, all key components that build the personification of the ID.
The film begins in a manic and uncomfortable state which builds to a crescendo until it's peak is reached at the introduction of the Ego, a psychedelic triad of all three-forms combined into one. By this point the film shifts into a third dimension. The skin is peeled revealing another layer of the psychological cake with the ego depicting a slow, dream like and fantastical sequence.
After the spectator has had a moment of pensive clarity with the Ego, a cool blue shot indicates the final transitional shift into the Super Ego.
