This is a Mind Map of what peoples fears are when it comes to growing up - I asked friends what their main fears were surrounding the topic of growing old. This became the starting point for the research.
I decided to present my sketchbook in sectioned chapters like in a children's novel; Chapter one is an assortment of visual representations of peoples fears when it comes to growing up.
Smoothing out wrinkles - reflects the anti wrinkle phenomenon in the skincare industry.
The second chapter explores the different ways people try to remain 'youthful' whether that be by dressing in a way not typical for their age group or collecting lots of children's toys - such as 'Cabbage Patch Kids'
This particular article above drew me into and led me to the idea of this project; how humans are innately fixated on remaining youthful. I found this insight into 'Peter Pan' really interesting as it made me think critically of how our perceptions change as we get older, through the way my thoughts on the story were very innocent as a child, however, as you get older the darker side to life becomes more apparent.

She collected over 150 dolls houses over time to create this ascending installation at the V & A Museum of Childhood.
This clip is extremely interesting in depicting how we all experience the same struggles that are related to growing up. It gives insight into the progression, both physically and mentally that we take throughout our years.
