In these boards, i wanted each design to predominately present the idea of a distorted body being quite ugly but beautiful in the same way. My sketchbook includes victorian fashion which presented pleats, gathers, bows and large assentuated features such as hips, bosoms and derrieres. I wanted this to be present in my work as this assentuation by wealthy victorians was accepted. However, if you were deformed such as the 'Elephant Man' with these same features but in the wrong place, you were cast out and abused. In my colourboard, i wanted to assentuate features that were not neccessarily the norm to create a new insight on beauty. The colour palette chosen, uses colours that are not meant to be seen together according to former standards and deemed as 'ugly' due to the clash they create.
