what it looks like when it has been finished
This expermint that I have done was thinking about the Rice fields also the colours that I have choosen where the colours of the Phillipines flag red, blue, yellow and white. The lines also remind me of the rice field terraces like a mountain that all of the colours are on top of each other.
The long white strings represents Pancit which is a type of rice noodles very well know for celeprations, parties and festivals. This symbolises long life.
This is another experminet that I have done was more thinking about the faric thickness and roughness and I used a diamond template and drawn the outline using a black gel pen.
When I look it up close it looks like a cussion and a repeating pattern, I really love how it the yarn has turn not into a perfect diamond but more like a diffrent shape and also looks l bigger diamonds everytime.
This was my first try doing the same experiment that I have done but used a fabric to behonest it looked relly stange at fisrt because I did not like how it looked alos the porportion was not right so I decide to take it off and think of another solution.
The same experimet but I done it with yarn , it went really well and I was happy with it and it looked liked a fishing net or mermaid scales. I also had some problems with the yarn is becase the porportions where not correct also I was trying to make a diamond but some looked more like a tear faceing upwards
The first one is a drawing with a thread and I decide to make a diamond shape and I would cover the some shapes in black and it looks like a tornado and at the same time looks like a rice mountain.
This was the same expermint but I decide to turn it into a flag of diamonds.
This is what the rice noodles look at fisrt when its in the water.
These where some expermints on the rice noodles. They where very slipperly also when was trying to twist then into a knot they kept on breaking apart and I really love the texture when half was wet and half was dried .
This is another expermint using rice noodles that I have dyed them in acrylic paint it was really fun and messy at the same time very easy how to make. I love the colours that are clashing with eachothers presents from the begining to the end.
These where some prints from the noodles and to be honest I really like them. I could have done better with my sticth work but Im going to work and develop on that.
For this piece I decide to put two diffrent colours of fabric and do more pritns and I did not like it at fisrt when they were on their own so I decide to sew both of them and I also decide to but some colourful thread to see what it will look like and it was more like a painting which Ireally love.
This is the same piece from the third one but I wanted to check what it will look like when I put another fabric on top, to me it was like that both pieces where coming together which i really like.
I used the Philippines news paper and decide to print on top also I had some fabric pieces and I decide to turn them into flowers and I really love how they turned out.
The first two are prints and the last one I used a BBQ stick and see what kind of texture I got.
continuous line using fine liner
Drawing what you see
drawing a singal line
Continues line using a stick and water colour
sticthing at the front
I prefer the back the reason is I love the pattern and how the lines are acroos with each other
layering and knotting news papaer under neath each other
close up of the newspaper
Weaving on paper it was really fun but at the same time some of the strips where really thin and some where really short at the ends.
At first I thought that the colour would not come out but I was really
I really love this colour with a pinch of purple and pink
At fisrt it felt really sticky and really messy also the colour was not the colour that I wanted it to be .
It was really fun squishing the pomogranits and the colour at first was very purpley pink but when I washed it off the colour looked very browwnish pink.
This one I forgot to take off the name tag it is not cooked strawberries it was cooked avacado skin which the colour looks really like a skin tone and I coloud also smell abit of the avacodo skin and it looks really diffrent when I take a picture than the real swacth.
Blue food dye with a pinch or black and dark blue paint.
Really like how the noodles look but I prefer the the yarn when it was more darker before than after.
Pomegranate juice in yarn
Termuric Tea
This is what it looks like when I put the yarn in
I really love the yellowness of the turmeric tea and pomegranate juice. To be honest I though that the noodles would not work that it will be the smae colour nothing has changed but now I see a diffrence in tone more lighter from the pomegranate and more mid yellowy okey colour.
Cooked strawberries
Rasberry and Strawberry tea
I was really amazed on how both colours look so diffrent to each other between reds and pinks.
Bleach
Green tea
The green thread I was not really happy with is because it was not the colour that I was looking for from the tea it self.
However the noodles surprised me I was really confuse because the colour was diffrent from what I have imagined I thought it would be the same as the thin thread but not exactly.
The Bleach experiment I really love so I want to continue with this liquid.
grains of rice that I will use to create these colours
At first I decide to use food dye but then it was too light and it was very watery and did not cover the whole rice and I decide to use dark blue acrylic paint which actually worked and I really love the colour
For this colour I used soft pastels as the base and I really love how it tunred out but t was to light so I decide to use yellwo paint to darken it a bit and it looked like turmeric rice and was very appertizing.
red fabric dye I had to do this 2 to 3 times to cover the rice
white acrylic paint.
Decide to use plastic wrap and for the rice I decide to sprinkel them into a straight line, I had some troubles with the red and white because some where in chunks which I really like and it looked like a painting it reminds me of my second experiment and I really love the plastic warp it also gave texture and diffrent lines pointing in diffrent directions.
rice drawings using a stick
These were really fun to make some of them look like faces and some look like swirls.
These were some experiments on how I am going to develope them more into a larger and bigger scale.
I really love the close up and I love how diffrent sizes and diffrent textures from samll to big.
I really love the roundness of the shape
Here is my developemnet of my swacthes that I am planning on doing.
this is the fabric that I am going to use
Blue acrylic dye
fabric red dye
pomegranate cooked dye
These all there colours look amazig and I am going to keep the colours that I made and save them to make longer strips of fabric.
used japanese tittuse paper
made pleats using farbric at home
one line drawing
using water colour paint
masking tape
wax candel on water coour paint
Both using soft pastels
really like the triangular method
made some shibori techniques and see how they looked.
inside their are rice I wanted to see what it will turn out to be like.
this is how it turned out

top
made a small rice sclupture.
rice on fabric with paint
This is what I intended to do I haven't decide yet if I want to hanging it on the wall or make it into a costume . I will carry on with this and try making longer strips of the colours on the pleats.
I decide to make more of my own fabric dyes using diffrent types of blue Acrylic paint for the pleats that I am going to use
Here is the first bacth that I have made.
For this colour I had alot of changes with this colour at first I wanted it to trun like a dark blue shade but instead it turned to be more light than dark. So I had to redo because I had no more of the blue food dye I decided to use Cobalt Blue, Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine and a tiny bit of Ivory Black. which what I was looking for.
This was my First test which was not the colour that I wanted it to be
For this one I had to chage the colour the reason is because I wanted the dye to be more of a darker red colur but not to dark and when I took out from the jar I really liked how it turend out. The colours That I used was Red Fabric dye, Crimson, Rose Madder and Brillitant Red with a tint of Black
I also had some troubles with the yellow dye this is because I had not alot of the colour and it was in a little jar which couldnt fit all of the fabric. Also the colour looked really bright so I had to to do it in an even colour light to dark. So I decide to use yellow food dye with Deep yellow, Yellow Ochre, and medium yellow.
For this swacth I decide to make some wrappings using brown rice, black thread, sicorrs, tooth pick, PVA glue and plactis wrap.
At fisrt I tried to warp the rice in thread using some twizers which I thought it would work however it kept on falling off and I was not really sure how I could fix that Problem So I decide to try using PVA glue and spread it onto my hands using a tooth pick and put the grain of rice and thread and use my middle finger usind a forward and backward motion so that the glue could get every bit of the thread and use the other hand to gets its form and shape to cover the grain of rice and it really worked wihich I was really suprised that it actully holds it shape very well
This is how it looks and 1st I made 14 but then I lost 4 then I made more and more but I am still carring making these small wrapped grains of rice.
decide to throw the wrapped rice and took a picture of it.
Close up shot
For this piece I decide to use the black thread that I used to make my wrapped rice and decide to make a chain using cooked rice and a small needle. At first the first piece was very long but it would not go though it just splitted in half which I knew it would be easliy torn apart. So I decided to pull it really slolwy and gently to see what will happen and it worked and I kept going and decide to leave some spaces in between I also wanted to try and use some rice that were stuck together and decide what it will look like and they actually fit like it is getting smaller then bigger then smaller a pattern. I would love to do more of this eperiment.
close up
I was choosing which of these I wanted to pick so I tried diffrent ways and I neede to think how can bring it forward or a weave using the diffrent fabrics and metirals that I could use.
