Why are we making this change?
More equitable access to color printing, copuing, scanning, and other features
High-performance equipment to better support organizational printing needs
Reduce the number of individual devices that need to be maintained
Better manage costs by consolidating printing resources
What will printing look like?
Desktop printers will remain for small jobs-generally one or two pages-and emergency printing
Routine Printing will move to high-performance copiers located in centralized areas. Print jobs can be send and securely released at a copier by swiping your badge
Large-volume or complex printing should be sent to our in-house print shop, where the job can be handled more efficiently
A planned transition....
Short Term: Existing desktop printers will remain in place for the near future. PaperCut print managment software will redirect print jobs as needed based on size and complexity.
Long Term: Desktop printers will be phased out as they reach the end of their useful life, but will be retained in certain strategic locations as identified by department leadership.
.....with intentional support
Implementation plans and resources will be communicated and provided as they become available, including:
Quick how-to guides and short videos
PaperCut printing instructions
Copier location information
When printing a file, select the option “Central Printer on MOBOCES-PRINT1.” This will send your job to the print server, where it will remain for up to two hours for you to release it from any Papercut-enabled copier of your choice.
Don’t attempt to scan your badge on the screen itself - the badge reader is actually located to the left of the screen on the copier. You’ll notice a small piece of black glass and a faint green circle of light.
Choose Print release to print the jobs you sent from your computer
Scan will email anything you scan at the copier to your MOB inbox
Device functions for standard copying
Remember to Log Out when you’re done
Copiers equipped with PaperCut-enabled badge scanning are available at various locations across our numerous sites. Most of these copiers are large, freestanding units in black or gray color, while a few smaller desktop units (such as those in the Tri 409 Front Office and ER Andrews RM 25) are also part of our Centralized Printing Fleet.
