West Valley Community Services brings a food pantry truck to the Moreland District Office parking lot every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesday of the month from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the food pantry truck has prepackaged bags of groceries for families.

Any family with a child in the Moreland School District can receive food. Families do not need to qualify or be on free/reduced lunch. The District Office is located at 4711 Campbell Avenue, on the corner of Fallbrook and Campbell Avenues.

In addition, if you live in the 95129, 95130, or 95070 zip codes, you can get assistance with financial and housing case management, bus passes, public benefits, and West Valley Community Services special programs. Click here or on the icon above to go to their website.

Nutrition Services

*FREE MEALS*

The Moreland School District Nutrition Services is providing an opportunity for families to drive through and pick up meals for their children in their families. Meals will be provided at no cost to all families. Children do not need to be present in order for meals to be provided.

*Please note that there will be no food distribution on Monday, May 25, 2020 due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Breakfast & Lunch for All Children

Meals will be served between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Meals will be provided in the parking lot or at the entrance of the school. Please stay in your car and meals will be distributed. If you cannot drive to the site you can walk by. Meals will be offered on a “first come, first served” basis and the number of meals will be adjusted to the number of children needing food. They do not need to be Moreland students. Also, they do not need to be qualified for the free or reduced lunch program or express financial need to participate. Meals are available for any preschool age child - 18 years old.

Meals will be distributed at Anderson Elementary School and Moreland Middle School.

Anderson Elementary School: 4000 Rhoda Drive, San Jose

Moreland Middle School: 4600 Student Lane, San Jose (on the side of the school on Fallbrook Avenue)

Dinner for the Week

Each Monday during the regular meal distribution times at Anderson Elementary School (described above), families can pick up five dinners for the week for all children Preschool - 18 years of age. They do not need to be qualified for the free or reduced lunch program or express financial need to participate.

Weekend Meals

On Fridays during the month of May during the regular meal distribution times at both Anderson Elementary School and Moreland Middle School (described above), families can pick up breakfast, lunch, and dinner for each member of their household (including adults). They do not need to be qualified for the free or reduced lunch program or express financial need to participate.

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)

These weekly activities are brought to you by the MSD Counseling Department to provide families with Social Emotional Learning while students are at home.

Helping children when and where they need it most

The Child Mind Institute supports children and families struggling with mental health and learning needs. The organization provides care, programs, resources, and information to assist children and parents, which is especially important during this time of increased pressures and demands. Counseling and Support Services for Youth

CASSY provides mental health services, counseling, and resources for students and families to support their social and emotional well-being. To obtain resources from CASSY CareKits on various topics, including Crisis Support and Finding New Interests during the pandemic, click here.

Second Step provides educators and families with tools to enable them to take an active role in the social emotional growth and well-being of their children. To help children learn the social emotional skills needed to get through this challenging time, they have provided access to a series of On-Demand Second Step Emotion Management lessons and support materials. All lessons are free (no login is required) and feature the Committee for Children staff, who are experienced teachers and counselors.
